So many things packed into this day, September 11

Two days ago was the year "anniversary" of the dismount off my horse up on that mountain that broke 2 ribs.

Two days ago our final child was married

The cheesecake wedding cake  :)

One of my dearest long distance friends passed away on September 11th and of course, we will never forget the tragedy of 9/11 here in the United States.

So many emotions today.

God bless.

Hump day, slump day!

Remember me?
I am that lady that used to make dolls and process mohair...

WHERE did I go???

Goodness sakes.

I traveled to Idaho to see Mom and my sister who was visiting from Ohio (plus I saw some other family members as well) and I brought back with me a load of Mom's stuff!  It is getting really real now!

I jumped for joy when Mom showed me her new address labels...with MY address on them!

Even though I still have mohair to process, yesterday was spent re-arranging my storage shed in the back yard to fit in Mom's Christmas ornament boxes as well as just make more room for other things that will go into that shed later.

And then just basic tasks.  You see, our son is getting married this coming Saturday.
We will be housing 6 additional people...4 of them will be here from Thursday night through Sunday afternoon and then the final two (my precious in-laws) will be staying here through the next Friday.
I am making the wedding cake...a lovely tiered cheesecake!
I have not built a wedding cheesecake before but with only a few days to get it done (Friday morning, bright and early I will wake up to two little grandgirls who will be demanding of my attention so I do not expect to accomplish much on Friday at all), I am thankful that it is a cheesecake as it will not require icing!

Here is the "pattern" for the cake that our beautiful bride-to-be choose.
This is a "new" thing in wedding cakes...uniced, or barely iced cakes.
(This cake is not cheesecake but the pattern will work well.)

I will be sure to share how my cake turns out.
Hopefully I will "nail it"!  LOL

I intended to work on mohair last Friday but my sweet new friend was so anxious to come over again that I decided that since this week is insane that I could spare an hour and a half for her.

We spent some time in the Dolly House where she helped me change a few babies and tidy things up a bit.

(I cannot remember if I shared about this darling 10 year old.  She is a local doll collector/doll lover.  She has tinkered with painting a couple manufactured dolls, making her own paints from supplies she had on hand.  She is creative and I think that once she has the proper supplies, she will do very well in the doll world.
She is generous beyond the word and has blessed me with some dolls and treasures from her collection.)

Here I am with Kyler, in the Dolly House with two of my dolls.

She is such a precious love!

Onward forward.  Time to put on my Super Woman cape.   I have more to do in the next 48 hours than is humanly possible and at this moment, all I want to do is to sit here and sip on coffee.

Time to get moving!

New FBS prototype coming soon!

How delighted I am to be asked once again to complete a full body silicone prototype for
Lilianne Breedveld!

"Purdey" will be arriving sometime in the next month or so.

These are Lilianne's pictures of the clay sculpt.

Claire Taylor in the United States will be pouring Purdey and I have requested, once again, for full arm armatures.

Isn't she cute???  She sure looks like Mack's twin sister!

I will take my own pictures of the blank silicone when she arrives at the studio.

Happy Monday!!

Summertime Fun!

Not much work getting done here...well, to be more precise, NO work is getting done here!

Last Wednesday, after a 2 hour hair appointment, I left town to pick up my 14 year old granddaughter and her friend to spend 2 weeks with us.

We arrived home on Thursday afternoon, just in time to see my 4 year old grandson compete in "mutton busting"...the riding of a quick and quirky sheep!

We dashed home to put the cold food that we shopped for earlier in the day as we traveled home away and rushed back to the fair grounds to watch bronc riding!

It has been a myriad of fun and excitement ever since!

I'll take a little down time today to catch up on business (not much going on there either) and to make some arrangements for my mother to move in with us the end of September.

YES!  She decided that she will move from Idaho to Oregon to live with us!!

We are super excited and nervous all at the same time...and we have much to do to get ready.

I hope that her life here is healthier (I know it will be much less stress) and happier and that these two components will extend her life longer, or at least give her a higher quality of life in the time that she has left on this earth.

A peek into Cowgirl Camp :)

Words just cannot express how much fun we 4 50-somethings have at camp.
This year was simply the BEST!

I am second to the left on my horse named Ruger in the picture below.
He was the only horse at camp this year.  The rest were mules.

We blazed through almost 32 miles on our horses in three days and 38 miles on the ATV's.
We explored brand new BEAUTIFUL country with so much variation, but were not in the area where the wild horses live this year.   We don't "trail" ride...we go through the woods, over hills, through draws and creek beds, over rocks and logs and across roads to make our own path.  Thank God I ride with three gals that are not directionally challenged like me!
We saw several deer and saw elk and bear sign...LOTS of bear sign!

Ruger worked so hard and overcoming his fears (remember our accident last fall) and triumphed through some of them.
I am so proud of my boy!

All of these next riding pictures are credit to my dear friend, Deb Bennett

Ahhhhh....until next year, I shall be smiling and giggling at the fun we had!

Egyptian shadow puppets!  LOL

And we spell it:
C and in "cow"
G as in "girl"
C as in "camp"

I love these fun cowgirls SO MUCH!

Techinical diffulties

I guess my computer does not know how to react when I shut it down for nearly a week as I have had nothing but technical difficulties since I brought it back up.

Ugh.  I didn't have to worry about such things when I was in the mountains.

I'll share pictures as soon as I can.

BTW, mohair processing is under way.  If you have requests for color and textures of mohair, be sure to comment here or email me at

And I'm back!

I had the time of my life at Cowgirl Camp this year!

What a glorious, relaxing, fun and challenging time I had!

I'll share a few pictures tomorrow as I haven't downloaded yet since I've been unpacking, tending to my horse (he got a minor boo-boo on his hind hoof), catching up at home and with my business.

Happy Monday!

Another week off...

I am just back from spending the weekend (plus an extra day to our doctor visits) and am gearing up for another trip....our annual "Cowgirl Camp"!

Today filled up with a lot of extra tasks (one being I am showing our house~the one we used to live in...and I hope I sell it!!) and tomorrow will be filled with preparation and packing to leave on Wednesday, but my mind is still on business.

I am aware of the two new additions to the doll industry, that being
the Doll Artist Union and Baby Bugsy Boo's selling site.

I've had a little bit of time to check the "Union" out and I want to be sure that my followers know that I have no problem with the organizers of this group but that it is not a legal "union" as some would think with the word "union", for instance when I worked for the Safeway Corporation, there was an employee's union, one in which we paid into and had legally binding contracts, rules and benefits.  The word is used to describe the unity of artists.

I did not belong to the Union at Safeway and I do not expect to belong to the Doll Artist Union.

I will continue to operate how I have in the past 12 years  :)

And I plan to sit back and see how the new selling site goes.  I won't have a doll to list for a while so that should give me some time to watch.

Two complaints I have with eBay are the high final value fees (I paid eBay over $750 for the sale of Mack) and the lack of seller protection.

They SAY they have seller protection, but I have rarely seen it enforced but I HAVE seen a lot of artists without their paycheck and the without doll they sold under the pretense of having a paycheck to a buyer who did a credit card reversal or eBay/PayPal claim against the seller and got to keep their money and the doll.

On the new selling site, the fees are about half of what eBay charges and seller protection is yet to be investigated, along with how much traffic the new site brings to sellers.

I really do not like change but with Photobucket's new HIGH rates and the potential of eBay to remove the HTML option from auctions, I may have to change.  I have NOT renewed with Photobucket (I think I forgot to talk about this when I got the news of this price increase...from $25 a year to...gulp...$399 a year!) and I have not yet got a clear word on the HTML option with eBay.
I WON'T be renewing the Photobucket.  I've paid $25 a year on two accounts for about the last 9 years, plus, I am paid up on those accounts until February of 2018 but they have made my accounts unable to access and use until I pay the higher fees that allow 3rd party use, such as what is required in eBay HTML for templates and the share pictures on sites such as Doll Fan.
There is a way around using your own photos on Doll Fan without Photobucket as Doll Fan has their own gallery where we can store pictures.   You are smart Doll Fan!  Thanks!!

Okay...back to this day,

Have a great week!
I'll think of you while in the mountains of Eastern Oregon atop a dun horse I call Ruger  :)

This week

We just returned home from a family reunion and I am back to work for a few days before we take more time off for medical appointments and a horse clinic.

I have began banding up mohair in preparation of a month-long mohair processing adventure!

I finished the little Tiny Tally full body silicone mini but am waiting for part of her outfit to arrive from the UK before I photograph her and offer her for sale.  Oh, that reminds me, I need to send in my camera for repairs.

I also have finished the mini Ashton Drake Emily that I started for my granddaughter months ago.  I am waiting for her custom clothes to arrive too, from the US and the UK.

I do not have any other dolls on the table at this time.  With all that is going on, mohair is the best thing to be working on and it's been a while since I have processed so all is good.

At least for now.  Mom is holding steady but we all know that that could change at any time.

My brothers memorial service (private family service) will be over Labor Day weekend.

We all have to go through these seasons of our lives.

Have you missed me?

I can honestly say that over the last year+, I am being refined by the fire.

Wednesday night, July 5th, I received a phone call that my brother Ken, age 56 was taken by ambulance to the hospital and not expected to make it.

They later attempted to Life-Flight him to a larger hospital where he passed away enroute.

56 is MUCH too young.

My family does not have the official cause of death yet, but he had been struggling with pneumonia.

I rushed the 4 hours to my mothers side.

Miraculously, her failing heart survived something I could not even imagine.
Children are not supposed to go before their parents.

Mom is SUPPOSED to have 24 hour care but the family that resides where she does are not able to come together to give it.
She does have 27 hours a week (3 hrs a day, 7X a week) of "caregiver" help.

We are trying very hard to convince her to come to live with us here.
I gave her a photo tour of our home and showed her what her spaces would look like and how she could enjoy the deck, gardens, flower and watching the horses frolic in the pasture.

Time will tell.

Well, I have missed YOU and now it's time to catch up from being away 5 days at a place where I could only get limited internet when I was able to go to the Library, which turned out to be only enough time to get the most critical tasks done, like print a label to send Mack on his way home.

My little Moon baby!  :)

Rest in peace Big Brother.
Until someday maybe we shall meet again.

Prototype Mack is available on eBay

Please, if you have a moment to spare, take a tour of Mack's auction on eBay

Lilianne Breedveld deserves all of the attention this little one can bring her!

You can also view the rest of his picture in the eBay auction.

And for your enjoyment, here is the "roll-play" video I created with Mack:

Ahhh....this baby is...amazing!

Bathing full body Mack video!

Oh my goodness....if technical issued could happen, they did!

But finally I was able to video and process two videos of Mack.

This first one shows how to bathe a full body silicone.

Come and check this baby doll out....
he is SO real!

I will be finishing up his auction pictures today (my technical difficulties put me far behind!) and will have his auction ready to start tomorrow morning, Wednesday June 28, 2017

I am going to miss this baby....

Video and photography day for Mack!

What a week it has been, starting with last Saturday.

I was called early in the morning to go to my mother's hospital bedside where they did not think that she would survive.  Mom is 4 hours away.

Before I arrived, I was getting messages like, "Mom is doing better!".
That was such a relief as if it was her time to pass (she's only 76) I wanted to be there.

But, she did not pass and when I got there, she was alert and fully aware of her world, and she just continued to get better.

Whew, what a scare!

I took Mack's head with me to finish rooting his hair...IF I could.

I was able to "finish" between working on him by mom's bedside and in the evening while I stayed at her apartment.

But of course, when I got home (after knowing that mom was going to be fine), I was not satisfied with the crown and also added a bit to his hair line in front.

Then it took me more time than expected to do his lashes and another day to do his brows and final glossing and matting!  I do not know why I had such a hard time with those things.

So today, with hair on his head (and face~lol) I will be doing two videos and his photo shoot.

It will take me all day tomorrow to process the videos and photos to prepare them for eBay.

I should be able to get his auction up for Monday evening, June 26th.

Oh, I was "caught" in mom's room working on his head and his head quickly "made the rounds" through the nurses station...and then I was asked to bring him out again the next day.

It was really fun and lightened the mood in the hospital with everyone.

I love my "job"!

Mack painted WIP!

I have already begun rooting Mack but here are some pictures from after he was painted and matted.

Oh how I love him to bits!

Oh Mack!
