Hey it's good to be back home again....

Hi everyone, I'm back!
Quite a lot overwhelmed at the moment so I won't be sharing from my collection today but, I do have some new babies to share next Friday.

I started my journal of the DEDS while on the plane so I'll post all about the show on Sunday.

Missed you all!

Time to go!

It took me until 10 pm last night to get fully packed but I am READY!

I won't make any promises about how often I will blog from North Carolina as this show is busier than all the other shows I've attended.

I'll be thinking of all of you and pop in when I can.

It's a chilly 36 degrees this morning here in Oregon.  I'm looking forward to some consistent warmth!

Hugs!!!

Last two babies ready for the show!

Please meet Mariana (Ariana sculpt by Reva Schick)

And Prototype #1 of Danene by Violet Parker.

This sculpt has the perfect limbs for a crawling/belly baby so I did a little experiment to help her hold her head up on her own.  (Usually I stuff blankets under them to keep the head up.)

Here are the results!

And here is how I did it~
I sewed on two little rings; one on her bottom and one at the nape of her neck.
I attached a heavy cord to the ring in her bottom and attached a safety pin at the other end.  The pin easily slips into the ring at her neck pulling the cord to hold her head up.  You simply undo the pin when you do not want her in this position.
The next pictures show her all undone.  As you can see, this little one has both full arms and full legs.

She is just as delightful as can be!

These two final babies are all packed in my luggage.
Now I need to get my class and workshop packed up as well as my clothes and the mohair that is still drying.  I can't believe tomorrow is almost here!  Many friends from outside of my country are arriving in Greenville, North Carolina.  Can't wait to see them!

Two days to get it all done

As I type here on the West Cost of the United States, back East, my doll friends are beginning to pick up international doll artists who are exhibiting at the Down East Doll Show!

That just makes me all excited inside and out and also very nervous!

I have today and tomorrow to get the rest of this show organized and packed up.

I will start out today by coloring up some baby kid hair that will be available at my booth (38B)
and I will photograph the final two dolls for the show:
Hispanic Mariana and
Prototype Danene by Violet Parker.

Wish my luck!

Sharing my collection Friday~New love?

Uh oh.
Matthew has returned home from the Gallery after charming the 2012
Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally participants.  I hear there were 3000 riders this year!

Having limited space in the home right now, I plopped him and his his chair next to the chair that Molly is in.

That is when the looks happened:

Molly looks delighted and a bit flirty while Matthew looks as if he is a bit taken back and attempting to deal with his feelings.  After all, he is in love with Tamara who is anxiously awaiting his return in the nursery~on his horse, wearing his hat but now, here is this cutie making eyes at him.

Oh dear.

Must be boring you to death!

Each morning I wake up and ask myself, "What will I put on the blog today?"

I have nothing to offer lately but boring tasks regarding the doll show!  That is the only thing on my mind (of course) and right now, all I can see is the little head (Danene) in front of me that NEEDS to be finished today.

My body is weary and I've watched so many episodes of Gray's Anatomy (season 1) that my head keeps going to this unreal place wanting to resolve all the issues with all the people on the show!  LOL

Lord have mercy~I need this head to be done!

I don't know if I even have the drive to complete the half rooted, tiny head that is yet to do (after Danene).  I just don't know if I have it in me.  I also need to process mohair which will take days and wear more on my body.

It's a good thing there will be a hot tub at the hotel!

So without further boredom, I am going to sign off, but I promise to check back in later and post a picture of the delivery should the DVD's arrive today.

PS...the majority of the dolls and the show table display are on their way to North Carolina  :)

Hugs!

Feeling hopeful!

Last Tuesday I was notified that if all things went well with the wrap-up of the DVDs, they would be shipped that Wednesday and would take one week.

Although I did not get a shipping confirmation I am hopeful that they will arrive tomorrow.

Wow...am I ready for such an emotional addition to my day/week?

Let me think about that....YES!

Back to that shipping confirmation issue.
I was never notified with tracking numbers when the proofs were sent.  There is just a coordination problem between the man I am working directly with and the shipping department but I always got the proofs when they said they would arrive.

So here's to hoping!

8 days!

Finally I have Mariana rooted!
Sorry, no pics. I have to apply her lashes and gloss her this morning and then get onto rooting Danene.

Yikes, just 8 days until I board that plane.

YIKES!

Heading towards the finish line! Danene painted

It is time to put down the paint brushes (okay, what I really need to do is pack them up for my painting class...) and fully grasp onto the rooting needles!

I've completed the paint on the last baby for the Down East Doll Show~prototype Danene
by Violet Parker.

This little girl just emits sunshine!

She just makes me smile!!!

Today I will box up the babies that are finished in order to send them on ahead of me to North Carolina, but I think I'll delay sending the box until Tuesday.  I should have big girl Mariana finished and photographed by tomorrow noon so that she too can travel with the other dolls.  Then I will begin rooting Danene and I hope to finish rooting tiny Gus before my flight on Tuesday the 19th.

There are a lot of things going on behind the scenes as well, such as getting all of the babies "goodie" bags and birth certificates ready; creating a show manual for the two amazing friends who are manning my table on the Friday of the show while I teach; preparing for my class, both mentally as well as physically compiling all of the needed supplies; preparing for the weighting workshop in the same manner as my painting class; gathering items that I am donating to the charity raffle; putting together a baby shower gift for the big party on Sunday; making price tags for the dolls, mohair and DVDs; and price tags for these amazing combo bassinet/bags made by Dizon Designs that I will be offering at my table:

and of course making sure that all of my animals, plants and men (husband and adult son) left at home will be well cared for.  They can clean the house though  :)
Oh, and paying the bills in advance.

I am contemplating opening up an online "show" on Saturday June 23 for my customers who cannot attend the show.  If I do this, the "show" will be from 11 am-1 pm where customers can purchase any of the doll show babies via the internet.  My android phone will notify me of any sales immediately and I can mark said dolls as sold as soon as payment is received.
I can only do this if I have time to set it up and have it ready to make live on that Saturday of the show.  Just one more little task.  :)

I better hop to it!

Sharing my collection Friday~Matthew is excited!

This is a BIG weekend for Matthew the little cowboy/Harley Davidson lover!

In our little city of 10,000, the seams of downtown will swell with thousands of motorcycles and motorcycle riders as we sponsor the 2012 Hell's Canyon Motorcycle Rally.

Remember Matthew's new high chair that has the Orange County Riders decal on it?

Well he is proudly sitting in his chair down at the Art Gallery on Main Street waiting to see all of his buddies.  (This picture was taken at home and it's really blurry, but you get the idea!)

This picture was taken years ago from the back of my horse as we carried in the Colors to open the celebration. (this picture is blurry too!  BAD day for pictures  LOL!)  This is just a small glimpse of the bikes.  I am tempted to make it a point to get downtown tomorrow and take some new images  :)
Have a great weekend!

Just one student

The deadline for signing up for my 2 day painting class in North Carolina has passed and I get the supplies ordered/gathered.

I'll be spending the two days with just one lucky student...of course I am not sure who is luckier...she or I! I love doing one-on-one classes and always come away feeling accomplished and motivated.
I look forward to an amazing time with this student!

I also look forward to working on one of Jessica Schenk's triplets!  These are the sculpts that I chose for this class.

So where is Nigel???
I was going to take his pictures yesterday but when I went to the nursery to assemble him, his eye gloss had developed bubbles so I had to redo them.  I'll try again today.  He looks really, REALLY real!

Master Artist of the Month award :)

I have not be entering Artist of the Month (AOM) competitions due to lack of time to choose photos, load them into photobucket and enter them to the contest coordinators but when May's AOM notice came out at Whispering Moments Reborn Baby Guild, I happened to have time to enter.

This is the baby I entered;  precious Lotte by Sebilla Bos:

And she won!
Eventually I will receive a logo from that guild but they happen to be the coordinators/managers of the Down East Doll Show so are very busy right now.

Just 15 days until I fly!!  Whooo!
