New adventures!

Yesterday was my "day off" so I embarked on a couple of new adventures and projects on babies in my personal collection.

The least nerve racking project was to reborn my two little Bonnie Chyle 

One of a Kind clay babies.  

I really was not worried about repainting these ones at all.  I know that clay is just as easy to paint as vinyl and that I can use my normal air dry paints.  

Here they are all taken apart and washed.  I spoke with one of the clay painting experts in the field who assured me that I don't have to remove the old paint unless it was excess and to just wash the clay with a damp cloth~no cleaners or strippers.

The one on the left will be a girl and the one on the right will be a boy.

He had quite a bit of glaze on his cheeks that didn't come off with water:

But I didn't want to use a stripper to try to remove it so I used 

Folk Art Glass and Tile Medium to cover it.  I'm happy with the results.

Here they are with the start of their new paint.

HE grew a TOOTH!  :)

I'm having so much fun with them!  

I should be able to finish their paint today~after I prep Prototype Mikki with Folk Art Glass and Tile Medium.

I've drug my feet a little bit with her due to having a difficult time deciding what I wanted to do with her (boy/girl, Caucasian/Ethnic, and types of paints and preps)

plus I had a lot of appointments and obligations last week.  But I'll be back on 100% focus this week.

This next project is the one that has made me sweat a bit!

 My first silicone reborn project!

Of course I studied different processes of repainting silicone and I've been mentored by one of the best in the field but as with all things, I gather what I like then create my own way.

I'm not yet positive that my own way is going to work but I'm not frustrated just yet so I'll keep moving forward.

This is little Laurel by Rita Rich-Arnold.

I spent time yesterday prepping her silicone so that the paints will stick.  

As you can see, she has a lot of texture to her skin.  Some was already there in the original silicone and some I added incidentally through the process.

 I see I have a finger print on her face!  Lesson's learned.  I may be able to fix that.

Either way, I am having a good time.  It always makes me giddy to try new things and create.  

I'm still working on Nala Faber (renamed to Orly by her expecting mommy) in the evenings.  

I just have the top of her head to root!  Whoo!

Sharing my Collection Friday~Twin's new clothes!

And since these arrived, their Auntie Kellie Beckett 

has sent them some other special things.

New adventures

My husband is going to be gone for two weeks....a perfect time for me to not only work extra hours 

on Prototype Mikki but to spend my "off" time working on some new projects.

I strongly desire to reborn two of my mini Bonnie Chyle OOAKS as well as one of my solid silicone baby dolls.

The OOAK reborns will be pretty much like working on vinyl.  I can use air dry paints and there just isn't anything difficult about it.

The silicone will be a different story altogether!

The baby I have selected to reborn is a small doll from Rita Rich-Arnold.

Rita tells me that this little doll, Laurel, is made of tin based silicone.  

She will be my test baby for silicone painting (although I have learned~but not tested~the technique for painting platinum based silicone) as I desire to start offering silicone reborns to the collectors.

I have had the privilege of being mentored by the one of the leading silicone painters in the field and I am now ready to launch on this new journey!

Yesterday, in between many appointments, I managed to prep all three dolls to receive their new paints.  I didn't get any real "work" done due to all the appointments and how they were spread out.

And I won't be working on Mikki today either.  My husband is coming home early and I just don't want to attempt trying to be focused on this kit.  

I will root Nala instead.  That is a project I can be interrupted on and not be stressed about.

I'll try to pop in tomorrow morning and share a few pictures of my twins other new outfits, but I won't promise as tomorrow is a trip to the city to drop hubby off at the airport and shopping.

I'm so excited to announce the arrival of prototype Mikki 

by Marita Winters!

Don't mind that speck on her forehead...I don't know what that was but it isn't there any more.

Isn't she cute??

She will be about a 19 inch baby.

Her sculpting details are simply awesome!

And I am SO torn as to whether I will make this sculpt a girl...

Or a darling boy!

How excixting!

Did you miss me yesterday??  

I fully intended to write but with 16 mohair orders to pack up and ship, I got a little bit distracted!

The first 24 hours after mohair listing is always very exciting to me!!

I enjoy packing up the luscious mohair and getting it sent off to my loyal customers.

It was quite a hoot when I showed up at the post office.   My two favorite tellers were there and each had a customer.  I was watching and waiting to see which would be finished first and "win" the prize of entering SIX international packages into the system!  LOL  

It was Judy.  But Scott laughed at her the entire time and kept asking if she was done yet!  

Hahahahaha...it was sure fun.  

Those international packages are such a pain for the postal employees...and a bit for me too as everything has to be done by hand.  The employees have to enter every bit of customs details into the computer for each package. 

BUT...I hear that there may be some online changes happening soon  :)

THAT will be very nice.  

It will kind of spoil my fun with my favorite postal clerks though!  

I have been rooting on Nala Faber and will continue that today.  

I'm working on one side and the top   :)

I should have a special delivery today too...

SUPER __________ SUNDAY!

To the rest of the world, today is SUPER BOWL SUNDAY,

but to me, it is Super MOHAIR Sunday!  

And the tally is in...

I banded up 34 and 2/10ths ounces of raw, unwashed, uncombed mohair to prepare it for processing

and I had you guessing as to what the NET weight would be.

Out of the 34 and 2/10ths ounces, the net weight was 20 ounces even of cleaned and processed hair.

Oh it was a great deal of work but I'm delighted to be able to offer this amount of hair all at once!

Friday Funnies~Austin gets one over on Aubrey!

Aubrey and Austin wanted to show off their new, cuddly lamb sleepers so I set them up for pictures...

Aren't they just SO CUTE???

Austin suddenly noticed that Aubrey had a lamb snugly. 

He wasn't as jealous as he saw an opportunity to get back at her for all of the many times that she has taken toys from him, so he reached over and snatched the snugly away!

She was NOT happy but HE was having a grand ole' time!

She did what any little girl would do....

Climbed right over the top of him and got her lamb back!

Makes me wonder if she has learned a lesson that it is NOT nice to take things from her brother...

Time will tell I suppose...
