Large limb filling tutorial?

It has come to my attention that even though I have tutorials for large dolls like Kristaleta, Suzon and Angelica as well as for small limbs that are completely filled with glass beads, I have not done a tutorial on filling the larger baby limbs.

There is a technique for this process so that your baby limbs don't become too heavy putting them off balance.

I will do my best to do a photo tutorial on this process this morning and get it up here on the blog tomorrow.

Have a great Sunday!

I missed posting on Friday!

I don't know what happened yesterday!
Guess I was anxious to get the house clean so that I could get all my dolls changed out of Christmas clothes.

So for now, I'll share this darling picture I took of Mareen and Aubrey the other day.

Aubrey is VERY excited to have Mareen join our family!

I just love my dolls so much!

I am happy to report that everyone is changed out of Christmas outfits!

Gaining the tone I want~Day 7

Last night I took most of the pictures of Alasia with my Nikon CoolPix L810.
This is just a "point and shoot" camera instead of an SLR like my Canon but
the Nikon just takes more accurate pictures of ethnic skin tones.  I'll show pictures from both cameras from last night's quick pics.

The light saturation is a bit intense from the Nikon making her look a bit pink but it shows more of the chocolate tone that she has, not the gray/green tone of the Canon.

I am pleased with the progress from yesterday.  I finally feel like she has some depth and detail.
I will finish her coloring up today with some more green/blue undertones, lip, nail and brow details.
When I do her full shoot, I'll work with settings on the cameras to be sure to show her accurate tone.

Ethnic Alasia~getting closer! Day 6

In the pictures she still looks a bit gray/pale but in real life, I am not seeing that.
I think I might be able to finish her up today or tomorrow!

I really wanted her to be a dark AA baby but I am going to settle with bi-racial on this one.
I will attempt the AA color on the next ethnic baby I try with Art & Magic Water Borne Paints.

I have learned a lot!  When I do get that color guide done, it will be easy flowing for those
who use it.

Until tomorrow.....

What a gorgeous silicone baby doll!

I don't have anything to offer from the nursery today so I'll share the link to an
amazing silicone that is on eBay right now.

Oh how I would love to make him mine!
The doll has a bit of a history~not with me but with one of my Doll Fan pals.

She owned the original, One-of-a-Kind Finley Huti in clay.
She desired that her sculpt be made into a silicone doll so she asked
Tinneke Jansens of Huti Babies if she minded if Clair Taylor poured her Finley into silicone.

Tinneke did not mind and in fact, gave Claire permission to pour FIVE Finley's into silicone.

This precious baby is the first one to be up for adoption from Claire Taylor but is number 2 in the edition of 5 since my Doll Fan pal has the first one.

Oh how I dream of Finley!
Wouldn't he/she be wonderful next to my other Huti babies???

Have a good day!

Day 5 Ethnic Air Dry reborn

Yesterday, I began to pay specific attention to the creases and folds on Alasia.
Up until this time, they were only being shaded as I added the full color washes.

I also began to bring the pinks into her hands and feet.

I had time for just one all over color wash.  I really liked the color I was using so I think I'll add a few more layers of it.

I'm getting excited to bring the blues and greens into the tones of this baby!

She's developing a bit of a sheen with so many layers but I'll be able to fix that in the end with
Folk Art Glass and Tile Medium.

She's coming along slow, but nicely.

I won't work on her today as I have an early afternoon dental appointment.  I'll process some mohair and do a little bit of rooting on Nala.  That should fill up my time.

New work week

I had two good days off filled with house chores, playing with my new baby and changing a few other babies and making a trip to the city for shopping.

I picked up a GREAT magazine at Costco:
"Where Women Create Business"

It is filled with stories of ladies just like me who create business in unique ways.
It also has a lot of useful tips for building said business.
I can't wait to read more!

Today will find me processing brown colors of mohair then continuing to paint a brown baby.
How's that for a brown day?  LOL

Have a wonderful day!
