Experiencing a TNGUN box opening~on video!

Remember the custom order Portrait baby "Laura" created from the Rieke by Linde Scherer sculpt?

Well the other evening I was notified that her mommy put up a semi-box opening on you tube!

Oh my goodness, what a delight!

~Baby Laura's Box Opening~

I wish you could have seen her in the box before her mommy "peeked". I always wrap up my babies so that they are peeking out of the bundle when the new mommy lifts the protective tissue wrap from over the top of them.

Here is an example:

I'm on cloud nine as I've never had a video done on one of my babies box openings! This was so COOL! My heartfelt gratitude goes out to Laura whom Baby Laura was created after.

Sharing my collection Friday~Audra's new bed

I needed to have a baby nearby the other night when I gave my tax preparer the night off (oh, by the way, she had LAST night off too! All of my other employee's finished their work at 8:30 pm and it was just much too late and exhausting to even allow her to consider working with numbers so I sent her "home") so I went into the nursery and grabbed Audra, my mini OOAK by Sharon Robinson. The thought occurred that I am not sure I ever shared this little vintage cradle I bought at a show last fall. The bedding set came with it.

Audra sure likes it and I am positive I saw her more somber face smile with the attention she got from mama!

Happy Friday!

There is a scammer in our midst!

One of my doll fan and artist buddies stumbled onto a website that is stealing pictures of others work, removing the watermark/nursery names and stating that those dolls are the ones she has for sale.

Her name is Donna Ashwork-Black
Address as posted on Facebook (page is now down)
511 VZ County Rd. 3441
Wills Point, TX 75169
and she goes by Dollymama1958 on Facebook and possibly on eBay.

She works from two websites:

Timeless Treasures Reborn Dolls

and

Rubber Ducky Nursery

Some of the gals on Doll Fan inquired of the dolls as if they were buying customers and it is confirmed that she does state that the picture of the doll is the doll you will get. It is not true!

Many of those dolls are prototype dolls done by well known artists. Of course we are all emailing and messaging the artists of those dolls who will ask her to remove the pictures. So far, none have been removed. The next step is to report the websites.

She claims to be lifetime members of Life-Like Reborn Baby Guild (LLRG) which closed years ago and also of International Reborn Doll Artists (IRDA) which does not have a lifetime membership nor does it use that logo.

And for the real kicker~

The photo of the elderly lady found on

~THIS PAGE~

Is not of a woman named Alice Hadney but of a woman by the name of Susanna Bartsch.

She is the grandmother of a reborn artist, Karyn McNulty, who took this photo. Grandma Bartsch has passed on and you can see her photo and pictures of Karyn with her on Karyn's site

Endearing Infants Nursery

To me that is the most terrible thing that this lady, Donna has done. If she wants credit for tending to the elderly and soothing them with dolls, then she should get out there, do that and take pictures of those people, not steal from others who have lost their loved one.

None of my pictures are on her sites but I am quite sure that the font used for
"Where Babies Never Grow Up" was taken from my old website. And of course the connotation is there as well.

Nursery News Update:
So what is going on in the nursery this week???
On Tuesday, I didn't get much time to paint but I did manage to work on lips and brows and get the Hispanic Arianna (who is now named Mariana) matte varnished and ready to switch over to LDC paints. The day just...I don't know what happened to the day!

Yesterday I was just plain tired! I worked with mohair and networking but did find time to paint on Mariana in the late afternoon. I only had time to do one layer on her creases but wow...sure is a lot easier with LDC paints! I'll do another layer today and they should be done. I hope to have her finished or nearly finished in the paint department today.

I took last night off from taxes and did...nothing! I feel a bit fresher today.

I'll pop in on Friday to share something fun, then I'll see you on Sunday.
Hugs!

Tax Mania! (And DVD update!)

I know, such a boring topic, right?

Well it started like this:

My supply manager (me) failed to assure that there were enough needles for my rooter (me) to continue work on Riley Schenk, now Shamika. So that left my tax preparer (me) the evenings to work on taxes. My mohair processor (me) really wanted to work on mohair in the evenings and there was a battle between my tax preparer and my mohair processor. Due to the fact that is it just shy of one month before the taxes are due, my tax preparer won the battle. Uck.

DVD UPDATE!!!!

After a couple of weeks of the meeting of the minds, I have been informed that it will be much too difficult and expensive to convert my DVD to Spanish and German as I had hoped to do. Even subtitles cannot be done due to the very large files of the video.

I expected there might be complications due to the file size so I am not disappointed by this news..

On the good side, the production company is ready to add the chapters and buttons and get the production started! I have authorized proceeding with the project and can't wait to hear more news. I am still a bit concerned that there might be complications during the "authoring" (chapters and buttons) due to the very large size. Keep your fingers crossed!

Hugs for the Day!

Mapping a head for rooting

I've been working most evenings on Riley Schenk, whom I have now named
Shamika.

I am using the fine tips of the lock near the front of the hair and the cut ends of the lock in the center and back. I am also using both a 42g Crown and 40g Crown needle.

Here is her rooted hair after 12 hours of work:

Since I knew it would be a while before I get to the other side of her head, I mapped out what I have done on the rooted side and thought it would be great to share that info and show mapping.

I've been mapping most of my rooted heads for several reasons. One is so that I don't forget what I did on the opposite side and the other is so that I stay on track and create a nice pattern.

I use a #2 pencil, which works great. I can erase the pencil marks as I go on all heads that have either baked or cured paints.

I have marked this head a bit darker in order that it show up in the pictures for you.
(click on the pictures to blow them up big)

The tip or point of the needle should poke into the vinyl in the direction the arrow is going.

Shamika is a Bi-Racial baby. This caramel color hair is stunning on her!

I might have a hard time parting with this big girl!

Hope this helps!

Hispanic Arianna day 3 Work in Progress

She is coming along!

I ended up with only about 4 hours available to work on her yesterday so I was only able to give her one more color coat all over and work on a few details like ears, eyes and nails. I was going to just color coat her limbs but I thought a little more on her face and head would be beneficial and it was. I feel like finally I was able to gains some good shading in her large creases and folds.

So thus far, she is not matte varnished. I'll look at her again this morning to see if I want yet another layer of Genesis color on her before I varnish her and continue on with LDC paints.

I'll be processing mohair over the next few days too.

Happy Monday!

Hispanic Arianna day 1 and 2 Work in Progress

I thought it might be good to post the first two days of her progress on the same page.

Day 1:

And day 2:

Poor baby sure has an eye issue!
I didn't have the color in stock for her that I want so I went to order them. They are out of stock at the company so I thought I would try some glass eyes for size~again not having the correct color. The glass eyes fit well except her head was still a bit warm from the Genesis Heat Set paint baking so the left one kept sliding! LOL I will order dark brown glass eyes for her.

I am still quite pleased with her base tone. The color is not really holding in the creases of her hands and feet with the Genesis Heat Set Paints, so after one more color coat on her limbs to equalize between her head and limbs, I am going to matte varnish her and continue on with LDC paints.

I think she is going to be beautiful!

Have a great day!
