Sharing a hair rooting tutorial

Since I do not have any progress pictures taken of my Sophia Madelina's hair tooting, I thought I would share a hair rooting tutorial that is being created by the very talented Cassie Peek.

~Cassie's rooting of Sophia Madelina~

And I will try to get some pictures of my little boy this evening after I've spent another day rooting him.

Have a great Tuesday!

Mid July Gallery Window Display change up

It's really hard to take pictures through a window! Or at least I don't know the settings on the camera to do so but this will give you the general idea. It was time to remove the red, white and blue theme and change things up a bit.

Matthew was put into his best summer Mud Pie outfit and placed back on his horse instead of in the rocking chair. He is one happy cowboy now!

Little Nicky Jack, who is available for adoption felt more comfortable on his tummy:

Matthew and Nicky Jack from inside the window:
I know, I know....sleeping babies don't sit up but we have ALL seen babies fall asleep in their high chairs. Dimples/Sammie was waiting for milk and then drifted off:

Logan, who is available for adoption, is always content just to sleep:

I put up the butterfly mobile, hung a butterfly from the ceiling and placed some big butterflies on the wall. Baby Abi (who I made for myself) and sweet Hillary have the whole crib to themselves!

Hillary likes tummy time too:

From the side window. You really can't see the changing table to the left of the crib where Logan lies due to the glare but passer's by can see him.

Of course Baby Jena is on display strutting her portrait baby likeness:

I do miss having MY babies at home but the time will go by very fast.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!

Exciting NEW DOLL SHOW in NC June 2012

Come one, come all to the NEW and exciting Down East Doll Show in Greenville North Carolina June 21-24, 2012.

I have my show table and will be teaching a two day LDC painting class!

There are a whole bunch of very excited artists~in fact, as you can see in the link above, all of the tables are spoken for with only 5 booths remaining in this 10,000 sq. foot showroom!

This show has created a Facebook page as well. Stay in touch and stay tuned as this show progresses. With almost a year to plan, it should be fabulous!!!

*****IN OTHER NURSERY NEWS*****

Things have been going quite slow in the nursery! I'm a bit distracted by a darling 8 yr old grand girl. :) and an 46 yr old camper trailer that we purchased last Wednesday night. We now have it all cleaned up and nearly packed for our first outing this Thursday through Saturday.

But, I have begun rooting the prototype Sophia, now Haku Ibu, and will root the majority of this day as well. (Right after I change the Gallery window display and put the 4th of July things away).

Haku is Japanese and means "Pure" and Ibu, also Japanese, is a unisex name that I can't find the meaning of. I think it HAS to have something to do with love such as Ibu...I love you!

Haku's outfit is almost all here~just waiting for one more item. Oh so cute!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Teaching my grand girl to root a doll head!

My grand girl Jena really, REALLY wanted to learn to root a head so I gave her my practice head "Egor" and showed her how. Wow, she has amazed me! She never sits still for anything but here she spent 3+ hours yesterday rooting hair onto poor Egor. (She calls the head Sierra and is not happy that I call it Egor. She does not think it is as ugly as I do!)

LOOK how well she is doing!

I'm starting her out in the old fashioned way and will bring her up to the newer ways as she gets practice. I've talked to her about the newer ways and she does understand what I am talking about as she sees me doing it. As she has progressed, she is doing some of it on her own. She is amazing me by learning from trial and error and for experimenting.

One of the scariest things ever for me to learn was cutting hair. But she is all over it! I love this next picture!!!

Hmmm....I might have to commission her out in the future!

A visit to the goat farm!

Goats, goats and more goats! I was in hog heaven....or GOAT heaven last Sunday as I stopped by the goat farm for a short visit.

I am glad that I did too as I was able to select which baby kid goats hair I will buy from for the fall clipping. I'll be putting a deposit down on 5 kids, a yearling and sweet ole Lucy.

This is the yearling:

And one of the baby kids. I believe this is Lucy's offspring. Lucy has always had amazing hair, even as a 5 yr old but she has not produced many kids. This year, she gave twin baby kids and I'm claiming both their shearings!

There is Lucy with one of her kids:

Look at that sweet face!

And look! The farm had a late bloomer! This baby kid was just 2 weeks old:

And I've staked claim to this little loves fiber in the fall.

The fall will be here before we know it!
