Not quite matched on the JaLily vinyl~

EEK! No eyes, green skin and gaudy lips! LOL

In the above picture, if you look very close (click to enlarge) you can JUST see how the color wash of "rose flesh" (I'm pretty sure this color is rose+flesh~I had it already mixed up in my stash but failed to write on the lid what it is) is starting to neutralize the green from the bridge of the nose up.

I applied 1 layer of this "rose flesh", medium thin wash with a sponge cloth and pounced it in with a wedge.

And I began work on the lips. MY! They have a long ways to go! So far, I do not like them! But I will before it's all said and done.

And I've done some eyelid coloring.

The next layer I applied to the head is what I call my "Newborn Flush" color. It is a mixture of LDC colors: Red, Brown and a dash of flesh. (Don't forget the retarder, water and base matte! You can eliminate the base matte if you have first prepped your kit with Genesis Heat Set Varnish. I did not prep this kit so am using a good amount of the base matte for this doll.) I mixed it medium thin and applied it with a sponge cloth, pouncing it with wedges.

And this is how the head looked at the end of the day :)

The limbs still are not matched to the head...and it's the head color that is most liked by myself and her "Mommy" so that is what I will work towards when I resume work on her.

I added 1 layer of a mixture of Antique Rose and brown to her limbs, applying it thick with an oval-poured sponge cloth and pounced with wedges. I did some color work on her nails.

She is going to be delightful and I am sad to have to put her up to work on the Fussy prototype that will be here before I go back to work after my days off. On the other hand, I am excited to work on Fussy too!

The Aubrey kit is coming along nicely too. She is ready for her 2nd color layer and her lips and nails are colored (but not tipped).

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Things went MUCH better with Lillian~Color Journal

As you can see, her head is more green than her limbs~which is just where I stopped yesterday as I ran out of time. Today, I should be able to get both colors of vinyl to about the same color tone.

So here is what I have done so far:

For her head:

1 layer of very thin (water thin) violet/blue wash applied with a mop brush. Brush/spread it on wet and pounced dry with wedges. This takes a lot of wedges!

1 layer of Cyan (a new LDC color that I am loving! I've used it for veins and now this wash) mixed with a bit of light flesh (also a new LDC color). This mixture is thicker than the violet mixture (thicker than water) but I still applied it with a mop brush and pounced dry with wedges.

1 layer of mint green wash in the same thickness as the cyan wash. Applied with a sponge cloth and pounced with wedges.

1 layer of light mint green (added white to the mint green), thicker than the mint green wash and applied with a sponge cloth and pounced with wedges. I intentionally left a lot of visible texture in this layer. This will help to bring her to life later.

Limbs:

1 layer of blue-green wash, thicker than water and applied with a sponge cloth, pounced in with wedges.

1 layer light flesh wash, thicker than water applied with a sponge cloth and pounced in with wedges.

1 layer of light flesh wash, thinned down to almost water consistency and applied wet with a mop brush and pounced dry with wedges.

1 layer of the same light mint green wash as used above only thinned just a little. Applied with a sponge cloth and pounced in with wedges. I did not leave as much visible texture on this layer as on the head as I wanted to wait to see where I am once I do another layer on the head.

So the plan today to continue to neutralize is to add a pink-mauve color to her head and see where I am at on matching tone to the limbs. Then if I am happy, I will begin to build her tone using the same colors on the head as the limbs.

Oh and her name for now is JaLily :) It is a combination her "mommy" and I have been using in reference to her because she is the same sculpt I used to create my Jena and the sculpt name is Lillian. Such fun. I love my job :)

NEW prototype being sent this week! I am so excited! He is by Samantha Gregory and his name is Fussy. I've already shopped some for him but need to do a bit more.

~See Fussy here~

He is a little ahead of schedule so there will be a delay in JaLily and also the Aubrey custom order I am working on but I will keep on working on them until Fussy arrives.

Weeeeeee....Wednesday!

Hugs~

Color coats on the head...and color coats washed off the head!

What ham! The above doll, which is totally unpainted, is the head from the Antonio Juan "Lillian" and a set of Berenguer limbs. She is one of the custom orders I will be working on.
If you click on the picture and make it big, you can see that her head is a different color than her limbs. So yesterday I set out to neutralize both head and limbs to meet somewhere in the middle and well, things didn't go too well on the head so I had to wash all the paint off and will start over today. I am using LDC paints without Genesis Matte Varnish as my customer does not care for the Matte Varnish so it was easy to wash the paints off with Dawn dish soap and lukewarm water as they did not have time to cure. The biggest problem I had is that I am so used to working with the LDC paints over the Genesis Matte Varnish that I forget that the paints need more time to settle/dry/cure and I tried putting too much color on too fast. So I will be working on this one and another non matte varnish custom order at the same time. This will allow more curing time between the layers on each doll.

Here is the blank doll next to my Lillian that I made into a portrait of my granddaughter Jena at age 2 months.

You can see that I have much work to do!

Have a great Tuesday!

My One of a Kind~I've had her for 7 1/2 yrs

And she is soooo life like! LOL Please meet Jenalyne, my 7 1/2 yr old Granddaughter. We call her Jena. She has been occupying our days for a week now ~such fun!!

She is our little cowgirl and although she usually rides Toby all by herself, (my 28 yr old gelding that she is leading above) she cannot ride him this summer as he is on summer rest due to a leg injury. He is healing nicely though.

So she got to ride Grandpa's big horse, Scout who is 5 yrs old. Scout is very sensitive so Grandpa helped Jena with him.

She loves animals and obviously, they love her too! This dog came over from the neighbors house just for a smooch.

You can't have a 4th of July without a rodeo! Here is the little cowgirl with her Auntie Jill at the rodeo.

And here she is with the little flower garden she planted on the 4th of July. We traditionally plant flowers together over spring break but this last year, it was just too cold. In fact, it will be just a whopping 66 degrees today~IN JULY!

Jena and I will be spending the day in the nursery today. I will be starting on custom orders. It just occurred to me that I have less than three months to prepare for EXPO so I'm a little bit in the panic mode!

Have a wonderful July 5th!

Noah's auction link and where to purchase the Noah kit

Good day everyone!

It's a big weekend for we US folks and for my friends in Canada! The Fourth of July and Canada Day~

So in honor of that, I've a little picture to share, okay, maybe three~

This one (ewe is yellow in hue!) is Janae by Laura Tuzio Ross and Masterpiece dolls. She is silicone/vinyl mix and has been kept in her original, manufactured state. I adore this girl!

And these two darlings are Carrie and Giovanni, solid silicone dolls by Laura Tuzio Ross. Yes, I LOVE Laura's babies!

Giovanni always sports a baseball theme and Carrie Lynn (as I call her) sometimes sports in to keep in theme with her brother~sort of! Baseball players don't have cheerleaders but her heart was in the right place~right?

Okay~enough playing! I will do a full post of one of the babies from my collection next Friday.

Now about Noah~

and where to order the Noah kit~

Noah is in stock and ready to ship!

Have a wonderful Friday and weekend!

And he is just so sweet! Yes, he kept me from my afternoon off yesterday...and this morning off as well but he is worth it. I will be putting up his eBay auction to start at 11 PST. I'll post the link tomorrow but it you want to see the rest of his pictures today, just type TNGUN in the eBay search bar and he will pop right up...after 11 am that is!

Happy Thursday!
